Tips in Winning the Game of Stud
If you want to win, you need to learn and understand the following tips:

  1. In cases when you have a high pair, you can use fast play to eliminate more opponents and have a chance to win the pot.
  2. For players with a bad starting hand, for example, draw hands (straight or flush), you can use slow play to keep your opponents to build the pot.
  3. If you have the best starting hand like the three of a kind, you can play in a slower pace for some players to remain until the fifth betting round.
  4. You can fold when you have a three or low straight or flush.  Don’t be too aggressive, learn to give and lose.  You will get your chance on the second game.
  5. Be attentive.  A player should memorize every card laid on the table.  These cards can ruin your chances of winning or can improve it.
  6. Look out for the pair.  If your opponent holds a pair, there is a probability that two out of three cards in his hand are door card.  This means that he has the greater chance of winning because he has several trips in his hand.
  7. Find a reason to fold.  If your hand combination consists of low ranking cards, you may have a lesser chance to win, or if you encounter a strong opponent, you can decide to fold to save your money and prepare for the next game.  If these reasons are absent, you can continue your bet until the fifth round.
  8. Be unpredictable.  Bluff once in while but let yourself be caught so your opponents will not study your pattern.  It is ok to lose a few chips, but you can win big by studying your opponent’s actions.
  9. Learn your hands.  In order to win, a player should understand by heart the equivalents of all the hands of the game.  Best starting hands should be considered because the first four cards is the key to winning!
